Are you passionate about protecting organisations from cyber threats and ensuring robust digital security? My Client is seeking a dedicated Cyber Security Engineer to lead efforts in managing and mitigating security risks, maintaining compliance with national and industry standards, and safeguarding critical digital assets. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and make a tangible difference in ensuring a safe and secure environment.

Your Role

In this vital role, you will lead the remediation of non-compliance issues, deliver certification requirements for standards like Cyber Essentials, and conduct risk assessments to identify and address vulnerabilities. You will provide specialist advice on a range of security tools and systems, ensuring they are effectively managed and optimised to reduce risk. From daily monitoring of security measures to implementing proactive threat-hunting initiatives, you’ll play a key role in protecting the organisation’s digital assets and critical systems. You’ll also lead cyber security elements of digital projects, engage in testing exercises, and work closely with stakeholders to promote shared learning and best practices.

This role involves liaising with external bodies, responding to security incidents, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Additionally, you’ll contribute to strategic planning, undertake vulnerability scans, and provide training and guidance to team members as needed.

About You

You’re a highly skilled and motivated Cyber Security professional with a strong technical understanding of systems, networks, and security protocols. You thrive on problem-solving and have a meticulous approach to ensuring compliance and mitigating risks. Communication is your forte—you’re able to convey complex technical information to non-technical audiences and foster excellent working relationships with stakeholders. You’re also a flexible and proactive individual who is comfortable prioritising multiple demands in a dynamic environment.

Your passion for staying ahead of emerging cyber threats, combined with your expertise in implementing best practices, makes you a trusted advisor on all things security-related. You’re a team player, a natural leader, and someone who takes pride in delivering results that make a measurable impact.

Some Bullet Points About You

  • Degree-level education or equivalent IT professional qualifications
  • Specialist cyber certifications (e.g., Security+, CySa+, PenTest+)
  • Demonstrated experience with DSPT compliance and risk management
  • Proficient in performing security reviews, risk assessments, and managing incidents
  • Broad technical knowledge of systems like Windows OS, network administration, and datacentres
